The Story of Gwluani –

Hawry is one of the oldest Kurdish art forms, dating back over 3,000 years. Originally called Gwluani, this pattern, known today as Hawry, originates from Kurdish communities in the Zagros Mountains. It was first seen on jars, carpets, and walls in architecture before later appearing on fabric used by both men and women. Gwluani is one of the oldest patterns , continuously used by people throughout history, from ancient times to the present day .
Beyond Kurdistan, through the trade roads (Silk Road), this iconic art has influenced neighboring regions and beyond, including Central Asia, India, China, and the Ottoman Empire.
Echoes of the Gwluani design can be seen in traditional clothing and art across these regions.
