Evin derives from the Kurdish word for deep love. The collection is inspired by both the art and culture of the traditional Kurdish rug motif. It holds a story that has been passed down through generations.
When a young boy fell in love with a young girl, the girl preserved her fallen strands of hair from her brush and offered them to the boy. He would take them to a weaver, who would intertwine the hair strands with wool to create a uniquely made rug. When the two married, they would hang the rug in their house… a simple way of saying, “There is love in this home.”
Although love has no language, it can be expressed in a variety of ways. Sometimes woven into fabric, and sometimes carved into art. We have transferred this timeless expression of love into jewellery, telling a centuries-old story through a piece that can be worn every day, a piece we named Evin.
